Process for the slag-free removal of molten metal from a metallurgical vessel, e.g., a converter, comprises blowing a fluid stream (25) having a high kinetic impulse energy almost parallel to the bath surface (7) using a blowing lance (20) during removal of the melt so that the molten slag (6) is forced back in the pouring region from the surface of the melt and is hindered at the outlet from the vessel. An Independent claim is also included for an apparatus for removing a molten metal from a metallurgical vessel, e.g. a converter. Preferred Features: The direction of the blowing lance is continuously adapted with respect to the inclination and removal to the molten metal outlet edge (10) using a manipulator (27) with the aid of a measuring and regulating system (17) of the pouring movement of the vessel.
