PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of decomposing ammonia gas by which ammonia gas can be decomposed with a sufficiently high efficiency at a low cost. SOLUTION: This method of decomposing ammonia gas is characterized in that a composite having a carrier substantially composed of carbon and at least one element supported on the carrier and selected from the group consisting of an alkaline earth metal and a transition metal is used as a catalyst to decompose ammonia gas into nitrogen gas.
