<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate and remove chlorine by thermal decomposition of chlorine- containing plastic waste to obtain a thermal decomposition residues having a low chlorine content which can suitably be used, e.g. as a blast furnace reducing agent and a cement material and fuel. SOLUTION: Before removal of chlorine from chlorine-containing waste by thermal decomposition, a metal to be derived from an additive which has been incorporated into at least a chlorine-containing plastic in the chorine- containing plastic waste is not allowed to react, in the presence of an organic solvent, with the chlorine or hydrogen chloride which has been separated and removed from the chlorine-containing plastic waste by thermal decomposition.</p> |
