摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device effectively utilizing irradiating light emitted from a backlight unit, improving brightness and attaining low power consumption. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a liquid crystal display element having a liquid crystal held between a pair of substrates. The one substrate out of the pair of the substrates is provided with a first insulation layer arranged on the one substrate and a second insulation layer arranged on the first insulation layer. The second insulation layer is composed of SiNx. The composition of the first insulation layer continuously varies in the film thickness direction so as to be SiNxOy in the region adjacent to the one substrate and to be SiNx in the region adjacent to the second insulation layer.
