Catalytic conversion of alkanes to alkenes

A process for the catalytic reaction of a C2 to C5 alkane and a sulphur containing compound to produce the corresponding alkene and hydrogen sulphide wherein the reaction mixture is contacted with a catalyst at a temperature of from 300 to 650 DEG C wherein the catalyst has a surface area greater than 100 square metres per gram.
