PURPOSE: A method and a machine for forming a large scale high pressure gas container (jumbo container) are provided to improve productivity by remarkably shortening the time compared to an existing method, reduce fuel, smoothly form a thick pipe, enable up to the outer diameter of 350 to 610 mm to be formed, and prevent cracking of the neck part of the container. CONSTITUTION: The method for forming the head part of a large scale high pressure gas container (jumbo container) comprises the steps of confirming whether the pipe is vibrated or not and the center of the pipe by closing the cover of a steady rest (8) and rotating a main axis at a low speed after mounting a raw material pipe to a chuck (14); heating the formed portion of the pipe using a pipe end heating furnace as rotating the main axis at a low speed; and forming a pipe which is already heated by reciprocation of a spinning cylinder (9) due to a hydraulic cylinder (2) and the up and down curve reciprocation of formed spins after descending a cushion cylinder for preventing vibration of the pipe.
