PURPOSE: Provided is a preparation method of 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one represented by the general formula (1) and used as various antiseptics and microbicide. Wherein, a starting material is commercially usable one; an intermediate is simply separated; and the following reaction involves no drying step. CONSTITUTION: 1, 2-benzisothiazolin-3-one represented by the general formula (1) is prepared by reacting 2, 2-dithiobenzoyl halide represented by the general formula (2) with amine aqueous solution in the presence of hydrogen peroxide in one step. Wherein R is hydrogen atom or alkyl having 1-8 carbon and X is halogen atom.
