PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a terephthalic acid stable even in a high temperature state such as in a production process of polyethylene terephthalate(PET). SOLUTION: This high purity terephthalic acid is characterized in that the terephthalic acid is obtained by carrying out liquid phase oxidation of paraxylene by molecular oxygen in a liquid reactional medium to obtain a mixture containing terephthalic acid, separating the terephthalic acid as a solid, dissolving the solid terephthalic acid in a liquid containing water to prepare a solution, carrying out hydrogenation treatment in the presence of a catalyst and carrying out crystallization and solid-liquid separation of the obtained reactional product and has >=90% heat resistant transmittance at 300 deg.C. |
