PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly control the operation of an occupant constraint means to be expanded between an occupant and an inner face of a car body side part in accordance with the behavior of the occupant in a cabin in rolling of a vehicle. SOLUTION: A threshold value line S is determined on a two-dimensional map applying a rolling angleθand a rolling angular velocityωof the vehicle as parameters, and an inflatable curtain is expanded by judging the presence of the possibility of the rolling of the vehicle when a hysteresis line of the actual rolling angleθand the rolling angular speedωof the vehicle crosses the threshold value line S from a non-rolling region at an origin side to a rolling region at a non-origin side (time t1). On this occasion, the expansion of the inflatable curtain is forbidden when a distance D between a head part of the occupant and the inner face of the car body side part is less than a threshold value Dmin to prevent the interference of the inflatable curtain and the head part of the occupant. In Figure 8, as the distance D is not less than the threshold value Dmin during a period of T1, and the expansion of the inflatable curtain is permitted, the inflatable curtain is expanded at a time t2.
