PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a belt carrying a packaging material from being damaged in a stretch packaging machine having a sensor to detect the excessive movement of the packaging material by the contact with the packaging material which is excessively moved. SOLUTION: A packaging material interference member 91 is provided on the downstream side of the packaging position in the carrying direction of the packaging material F in an oscillating manner. When the packaging material F is collided with an upper portion of the member 91, the member 91 is inclined, and a lower end 98 is detached from a sensor 99 to realize the ON-state. The carriage of the packaging material F is stopped when receiving this ON-signal. The packaging material F collided with the member 91 is formed into a lump d, and an excessive force is applied to carrying belts 70, 67. Damages of the belts 70, 67 can be avoided by stopping the carriage of the packaging material F without moving the packaging material F in the reverse direction. Since the movement of the packaging material F is impeded by the member 91, the packaging material is not caught into pulleys 64, 65, 69 at an end of a carrying passage.
