摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a troidal continuously variable transmission for an automo bile which can maintain the high traction coefficient, and transmit the large driving force without increasing the pressing force while maintaining the oil film forming condition similar to the conventional one even in the operation at high temperature. SOLUTION: In the troidal continuously variable transmission, the oil pool depth ratio K of one or both of the drive side and/or driven side rolling element traction surfaces is set to be >=0.9, and the ratio (b/V0 syn) of the oil film thickness h (mm) on a contact portion of both rolling elements to the root V0 syn of the square of the oil pool quantity V0 on each of the drive side and the driven side rolling element traction surfaces (mm3/mm2) is set to be <=15.0, preferably, <=5.0.
