PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light protective agent having high absorbance in UV-A region, stable to light, exhibiting slight intrinsic color, i.e., a sharp band structure, getting soluble to water or oil through substituent manipulation, and intended for cosmetics and pharmaceutical preparations. SOLUTION: The subject light protective agent combination comprises (A) compound(s) with absorbance mainly in UV-A region and (B) compound(s) with absorbance both in UV-A and UV-B regions; wherein the component A essentially comprises A(a) an effective amount of a hydroxybenzophenone of the general formula I and, optionally in addition, A(b) an effective amount of a 4,4-diarylbutadiene of the general formula II, and the component B comprises an effective amount of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of compounds B(a), B(b), B(c), B(d), B(e), B(f), B(g) and B(h) of respective formulas III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX and Xa and/or Xb. The light protective agent combination can be used as a light-stable filter in cosmetic preparations and pharmaceutical preparations for protecting human skin or human hair from sunlight.
