<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop an iron scrap melting method for producing molten steel at low cost in which the iron scrap is melted and a desired component composition such as carbon content is adjusted to the target value and the molten steel is quickly tapped with the molten steel is heated to a target temperature value. SOLUTION: Iron scrap 6 is heated and melted until melt-down with an oxygen burner 3 and, after melt-down, oxygen and carbon are blown into molten slag 8 and/or molten iron 7 formed in a furnace with an oxygen-containing gas blowing lance 4 and a carbon-containing material blowing lance 5 to melt the unmelted iron scrap and to heat up the molten steel to a prescribed temperature. The molten steel is then tapped off. Further, the timing for changing over the oxygen burner to the oxygen blowing lance and C blowing lance 5 is made to be on and after the point of time when 70% of eh whole amount of the iron scrap to be melted is melted.</p> |
