PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque sensor which is of simple and compact constitution and has good detection precision. SOLUTION: An input shaft 9 and an output shaft 10 are provided with 1st and 2nd disks 31 and 32 which face each other rotatably in the same bodies with the corresponding shafts 9 and 10. A light emission part 34 and a light reception part 35 which are annular are arranged opposite each other across the disks 31 and 32. The 1st and 2nd disks 31 and 32 have plural slits S1 and S2 which are formed annularly side by side having their centers on an axis C penetrating both the shafts 9 and 10 coaxially. The respective slits S1 of the 1st disk 31 correspond to the slits S2 of the 2nd disk 32 and the light from the light emission part 34 is guided to the light reception part 35 through overlapping parts of the corresponding slits S1 and S2 of the disks 31 and 32. The total quantity of the light that the light reception part 35 receives can be made as large as possible and variation in the quantity of light with the phase shift between both the disks 31 and 32 can be made large. |
