PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the noise generated in a power transmission unit to a balancer shaft in a balancer of an engine using the balancer shaft provided on a rotary shaft with two balance weights in an offset manner of the phase by 180 deg.. SOLUTION: In the balancer comprising the balancer shaft 14 having first and second balance weights 14b, 14c on a rotary shaft portion 14a in an offset manner of the phase by 180 deg. and a drive side gear 1c and a driven side gear 14e as power transmission means to transmit the rotation of a crankshaft 1 to the rotary shaft portion 14a of the balancer shaft 14, the driven side gear 14e is provided on an intermediate portion of the first and second weights 14b, 14c in the rotary shaft 14a of the balancer shaft 14.
