PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an air conditioner ensuring a comfortable high performance dehumidification operation by enlarging the temperature ranges of dehumidification operation through cooling cycle and through heating cycle and setting an appropriate quantity of refrigerant for each dehumidification operation. SOLUTION: A four-way valve 14 changes over a cooling cycle for supplying refrigerant flow from an outdoor heat exchanger 16 and an indoor heat exchanger 2 and a heating cycle of reverse flow. The indoor heat exchanger 2 is divided into a large first indoor heat exchanger 3 and a small second indoor heat exchanger 4. Dehumidification operation is changed over between an operation through cooling cycle where refrigerant flows sequentially through the second indoor heat exchanger 4, a dehumidification throttle 7 and the first indoor heat exchanger 3 and an operation through heating cycle where refrigerant flows reversely.
