PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject composition extremely high in the ability to dye the hair, slight in color fading with the lapse of days and also slight in color tone change of the agent even after preserved. SOLUTION: This hair dyeing agent composition contains a direct dye of the formula (1) [R1 is H, a (substituted) lower alkyl or aralkyl; R2 is a (substituted) lower alkyl, aralkyl or (substituted) phenyl; R3 is H, a halogen atom, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; R4 is a lower alkyl or (substituted) phenyl; R5 is H, a halogen atom, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; R6 and R7 are each a lower alkyl; R8 is H, methyl or cyano; and A- is an anion].
