PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outer wall structure for a building, and a construction method thereof capable of easily and speedily repairing a deteriorated part without generation of noise, vibration, dust, or industrial waste by repairing construction, achieving rationalization of construction, shortening of a construction period, and reduction of construction cost, correctly and beautifully constructing a new outer wall regardless of a construction condition of an existing outer wall or its change by aging, providing high heat insulation performance, waterproof performance, sound insulation performance, flame resistance, and favorable and safe livability, and easily controlling construction precision of heat insulation material. SOLUTION: In this outer wall structure for an existing or new building, plural battens 3 are fixed to a specified position in the surface of an outer wall, and heat insulation material 10 is applied and bound to the surface of the outer wall 1 parted by the battens 3.
