PURPOSE: A system and a method for providing position information of a route car using a wireless mobile communication system are provided to minimize the installation cost and the operation cost of a position information providing unit by tracing a position of a route car by a previously constructed cellular mobile communication system. CONSTITUTION: Route cars correspond to each wireless mobile station, and mounts a corresponding wireless mobile station and moves a set route. A route car position information providing unit(110) monitors a mobile station position information database at real time, updates cell position information of the wireless mobile stations mounted on the route cars at real time, estimates a current position of the route car requested by an information requester using updated cell position information, and provides the estimated result.
