Zinc salts of dithiocarbamic acids or of a mercaptobenzthiazole are rendered water-dispersible by the presence of an alkali metal or ammonium salt of an alkylaromatic sulphonic acid, of an alkyl sulphate containing 6 or more C-atoms or of a sulphated fatty acid ester. Specified zinc salts are derived from N : N-dimethyldithiocarbamate, N : N-diethyldithiocarbamate, N : N - dibutyldithiocarbamate, N-ethyl - N - phenyldithiocarbamate, ethylene-bis - (dithiocarbamate), morpholinocarbodithioate, piperidinocarbodithioate and 2-mercaptobenzthiazole which latter may be nuclear substituted. The following types of compound forming the alkali metal (Na or K) salt are specified: alkyl benzene sulphonic acids in which the alkyl groups contain 8-16 C-atoms, alkyl naphthalene sulphonic acids in which the alkyl groups have 2-6 C-atoms, secondary alkyl sulphates having alkyl groups respectively containing 4 or more and up to 3 C-atoms and sulphated fatty esters in which the esterifying group has 1-8 C-atoms and the acid is unsaturated and contains 10-24 C-atoms. Other salts of sulphonated materials, e.g. sodium lignin sulphonate, may also be present and in addition substances which prevent caking, e.g. kieselguhr, silica and calcium or magnesium silicates, and thickening agents e.g. alkali metal salts of a carboxyalkyl cellulose or a polyacrylic acid, partially hydrolysed polyacrylate ester or polyacrylonitrile, polyvinyl alcohol, methyl cellulose, gelatin, polyvinyl pyrrolidone and bentonite.ALSO:A composition suitable for use as a rubber accelerator by dispersion in an aqueous suspension of rubber particles or in a rubber latex comprises a zinc salt of a dithiocarbamic acid or of a mercaptobenzthiazole and an alkali metal or ammonium salt of an alkylaromatic sulphonic acid, of an alkyl sulphate containing 6 or more C-atoms or of a sulphated fatty acid ester. Specified zinc salts are derived from N:N-dimethyldithiocarbamate, N:N - diethyldithiocarbamate, N:N-dibutyldithiocarbamate N - ethyl - N - phenyldithiocarbamate, ethylenebis - (dithiocarbamate), morpholinocarbodithioate, piperidino - carbodithioate and 2-mercaptobenzthiazole which latter may be nuclear substituted. Several examples of the zinc salt are specified, and the following types of compound forming the alkali metal (Na or K) salt: alkylbenzene sulphonic acids in which the alkyl groups contain 8-16 C - atoms, alkyl naphthalene sulphonic acids in which the alkyl groups contain 2-6 C -atoms, secondary alkyl sulphates having alkyl groups respectively containing 4 or more and up to 3 C -atoms, and sulphated fatty esters in which the esterifying group has 1-8 C -atoms and the acid is unsaturated and contains 12-24 C -atoms.
