PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting method providing high gloss to a cut slit roll end part surface without generating crazing in a method for slitting a web provided with a coating layer having pigment and solid particulate or the like as its main component by using a shear cut type slitter device. SOLUTION: This cutting method for the web is featured in that a slit part comprises an upper cutting part and a lower cutting part provided with a plurality of lower blades and a cylindrical spacer with the same outer diameter as the lower blades, rounding with a radius of curvature of 2 mm or more is applied to an edge part of a spacer cylinder face opposing the lower blades, or tapering is applied to the edge part and a starting point of this tapering is 2 mm or more each in a lower blade shaft axis center direction and a lower blade shaft axis horizontal direction from an edge tip.
