PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic probe of simple structure usable in forming an ultrasonic image using a contrast enhancer. SOLUTION: In this ultrasonic probe, the transducer elements 102 of a first interleaved array are provided on a first hollow support member 101, and the transducer elements of a second interleaved array are provided on a second support member. The second support member fits within the first support member. The length of the transducer elements of the first array in the plane of the array and in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal dimension is longer than the corresponding length of the elements of the second array, and the corresponding length of the transducer elements of the second array is not longer than the corresponding inner diameter of the first hollow support member.
