PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out an efficient ventilation by properly detecting gas concentration at a land-fill site. SOLUTION: A detector box 12A incorporating two gas concentration detecting means, i.e., an H2S sensor 12a and an O2 sensor 12b, a temperature sensor 12c and a ground detecting sensor 12d and a gas detector 12 with a lifter made up of a band cable 12B, are always held at the height of about one meter from the surface of a waste K by a height adjusting means 13 based on a detection signal from the ground detecting sensor 12d. Thus, the concentrations of hydrogen sulfide and oxygen, and the temperature near the surface of the waste K are detected.
