PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suspension type monorail toy which has a simple construction and rarely fails, and continuously travels along a traveling beam. SOLUTION: The suspension type monorail toy includes a traveling beam 1 and a car 20 which is suspended from the beam 1 and travels. The beam 1 includes a traveling drive path 16 including a rack 12 which is formed along an opening 6 formed on the underside, the center portion being partitioned in the longitudinal direction by a separator 14 so as to extend continuously along the periphery and a suspension traveling path 9 formed in the longitudinal direction. The car 20 includes a rotatable drive shaft 30 having a pinion 32 at its top end, a motor 22 to ratatably drive the shaft 30, and a suspension shaft 38 to suspend the car 20 so as to be moved along the shaft 38. The shaft 38 is rotatably supported by the path 9, and the pinion 32 is mated with the rack 12 to suspend and support the car 20 on the beam 1.
