PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water tank filter which has high purification efficiency and prevents the discharge of sludge in the inside when pulled up from water. SOLUTION: A partition member 3 with a discharge pipe 30 is housed in a filter case 10 in which an upper part cover 1 is engaged with a bottom tray 2, the upper part of the pipe 30 protrudes outside the opening part 11 of the cover 1, the tray 2 is divided into upper and lower parts by a horizontal partition plate 3a of the member 3, a lower side downstream chamber 20a communicates with the pipe 30, upper and lower filter medium layers 4A, 4B are formed on the upper side, a water suction passage 8 in which the lower end is opened and the upper end is made to communicate with an upstream chamber 18 on the upper filter medium layer 4A is formed between the circumferential wall parts 2a, 1a of the tray 2 and the cover 1, and an ascending water flow associated with the discharge of bubbles from an air stone 5 in the pipe 30, water sucked from the passage 8 passes through the layers 4A, 4B and is discharged upward through the chamber 20a and the pipe 30.
