METHOD FOR CALCULATING ROLLING LOAD AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING ROLLING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for calculating rolling load which is advanta geously performable from the viewpoint of maintenance at low cost without using a load cell. SOLUTION: When calculating the rolling load of a rolling mill having a press driven by a hydraulic cylinder 2, a force which is necessary to operate the mechanical elements of the press by the hydraulic cylinder 2 is calculated and also the force acting on a cylinder rod 3 is calculated by measuring the pressures on the head side and rod side of the hydraulic cylinder 2. The rolling load is obtained by subtracting the force necessary to operate the mechanical elements from the force acting on the cylinder rod 3.
