PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for carbonization by which the time required for carbonization can be shortened and ignition of carbonized substance is prevented from occurring. SOLUTION: A carbonization room 1 for carbonizing combustible organic substances, a heating room 2 formed so as to surround the carbonization room 1 and having a heating machine 11 for heating the carbonization room 1 and a burning machine 12 for burning the combustible gas generated in the carbonization room 1 are provided and a water injecting unit 16 for supplying water into the carbonization room 1 is provided in the apparatus for carbonization. The water injecting unit 16 consists of a pipeline one end of which is connected with a water supply source and another end of which is opened into the carbonization room side and in the pipeline, an electromagnetic on-off valve 121, a reducing valve 122, an electric heater 125 for preventing freezing and a drainage mechanism 124 are formed from the carbonization room side.
