PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high speed and convenient ink jet recording method especially suitable for a printing machine and an ink jet printing machine in which unevenness of density is reduced. SOLUTION: In the ink jet recording method and the ink jet printing machine where a recording medium is carried in the sub-scanning direction and image recording is performed based on raster image data in two recording directions, i.e., going direction and returning direction, by driving a recording head for ejecting ink drop reciprocally in the main scanning direction, recording direction of adjacent recording lines includes a part of identical direction and the number of continuous recording lines is irregular at the part of identical direction.
