PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decorative material which does not abrade a relatively soft article such as a paper tissue case, a paper box, a plastic-made pot, a wooden coaster, shoes, socks and the like in spite that it has an excellent abrasive resistance in itself to show an abrasive resistance against a hard article such as a flower vase, a dish, a pottery, an ornament and the like. SOLUTION: A decorative material having abrasive resistance is obtained by placing on a surface of a base material 1 an abrasive resistance resin layer 3 formed of a coating composition comprising a binder 3a composed of a crosslinked substance of a crosslinkable resin and a particle 3b having a hardness bigger than that of the crosslinked substance of the crosslinkable resin, wherein the average thickness t of the abrasive layer and the average diameter d of the particle satisfy the following formula: (1) d<=1.
