PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unnecessitate a drain valve at the replenishing time of a chemical. SOLUTION: This water purifier is provided with activated carbon as a filter medium, a heating device for heating the activated carbon to perform regeneration by heat accompanied with boiling of retention water, a chemical addition port for adding the chemical, and a first discharge water path whose tip is positioned at the upper part than the chemical addition port and also through which water normally passed through the filter medium passes and also a back flow of liquid or gas in the path generates in accordance with generation of negative pressure at the regeneration time by heat, a first stop valve installed in the first discharge water path, a control part for controlling the heating device, and the first stop valve and an operation part for sending signal to the control part. By operating the operation part during a water stop time, the first stop valve is stopped or closed.
