PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorption material for adsorbing a specified amino acid from an amino acid-containing aqueous solution and to provide a method for recovering the specified amino acid by using the adsorption material. SOLUTION: The adsorption material is composed of the natural protein selected from silk protein and animal keratin, the synthetic polyamino acid selected from the synthetic homopolymer and copolymer of glycine, alanine, valine, phenylalanine, glutamate, aspaltate, leucine and isoleucine or the carrier fine particles whose surface is covered with the protein or the synthetic polyamino acid. In the case that the material protein is composed of the silk protein, an basic amino acid is mainly adsorbed, and in the case that the adsorption material is composed of the animal heratin and the synthetic polyamino acid or of the carrier fine particles whose surface is covered with the natural protein or the synthetic polyamino acid, an acidic amino acid is mainly adsorbed, than the amino acid adsorbed to the adsorption material is released and recovered by using an acidic or alkaline aqueous solution.
