METHOD OF REMOVING HAZARDOUS ORGANIC CHLORINE COMPOUND AND APPARATUS FOR THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover the salts formed in a PCB treating vessel to make it harmless and to remove the unreacted PCBs remaining therein. SOLUTION: The PCBs are to be harmless in the PCB treating vessel 1 and the salts and unreacted PCBs in the treating vessel are sent to a filter 2 in a filter housing 4 and are deposited on the surface of the filter 2. Water for dissolving the salts is supplied form a water tank 8 into the filter housing 4. The salts are dissolved by water and are made into a filtrate together with the unreacted PCBs. The filtrate flows from the filter housing 4 into a solvent extraction vessel 12. The unreacted PCBs are solvent extracted by an organic solvent and are removed in the solvent extraction vessel 12. An aqueous solution phase 31 in which the salts are dissolved flows into an evaporation vessel 19, is heated by a heater 20 and is evaporation to dryness. The salts turn to solid salts 22 which are then recovered in a salt recovering vessel 21.
