PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the idling electric power regardless of the opening and closing of the door of cookers such as microwave ovens. SOLUTION: The cooker comprises a power source circuit 4 to supply power to a control means 3, a power opening/closing means 5 interposed between the power source circuit 4 and the control means 3 to open and close the power supplied to the control means 3 and a retention means 6 to control the ON/OFF of the power opening/closing means 5. If the power opening/closing means 5 is OFF, the retention means 6 turns the power opening/closing means 5 ON following the signal output from a key input means by the operation of the keys or the signal from the control means 3 and if the activated condition does not change after the power opening/closing means 5 is turned ON, the retention means 6 turns the power opening/closing means 5 OFF following the signal from the control means 3. Consequently the power consumption can be reduced by the control means regardless of the opening and closing of the door.
