APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TESTING DECODER

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for testing a decoder are provided to promptly and accurately test a decoder by having a decoder tester easily connected to a decoder. CONSTITUTION: A decoder tester includes a checksum calculator(40) and a controller(16). The decoder is a part of a television system(10). Many test frames are provided to a video decoder. Many reference checksums related with the test frames are provided. Many calculated checksums based on the decoded test frames are provided by the video decoder. The reference checksums are compared to the calculated checksums. A frame decoder decides if the test frames are decoded by referring to the compared result.
