PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side guard device in which the fingers are prevented from being nipped by an attaching member provided in an upper transverse member and a longitudinal member connected to the attaching member. SOLUTION: The side guard device for a bed comprises a plurality of longitudinal members 16 arranged at prescribed intervals in the longitudinal direction of a lower transverse member 14 with lower ends connected so as to be rotatable, a plurality of attaching members 32 formed in bag shapes with lower surfaces and one side surfaces opened, provided on the lower surface of the upper transverse member 13 at the substantially same intervals as those of the longitudinal members 16 and rotatably connected thereto by inserting the upper ends of the longitudinal members from the openings of the lower surfaces, a stopper mechanism 34 for holding each longitudinal member so as not to possible to fall while the longitudinal member is substantially vertically erected and releasing the holding state for making the longitudinal member possible fall in the direction that its upper end part protrudes from the opening of the side surface of each attaching member on the lower end part of the longitudinal member as a supporting point and a protecting member 35 provided on the upper end part of each longitudinal member to restrict the degree of opening of the side surface of the attaching member without preventing the rotation of the longitudinal member in the direction fall. |
