PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens driving device capable of eliminating the need of the exchange of an electrically re-writable ROM (EEPROM) and easily and inexpensively changing data such as a program required for lens control as necessary by recording the data such as the program in the ROM, acquiring new data from an external device such as a personal computer and rewriting the data in the ROM to the acquired data. SOLUTION: A CPU 100 incorporated in a driving unit 16 for a lens acquires the rewritten data in the ROM 102 from the personal computer 104. Whether or not the voltage of a power source 108 is voltage sufficient to rewrite the data in the ROM 102 is confirmed by a supply power confirmation circuit 110. In the ease of confirming that the voltage is sufficient, the voltage is supplied from the power source 108 to the ROM 102 by a rewriting voltage supply means 112, the data in the ROM 102 is erased, and the rewritten data acquired from the personal computer 104 is written in the ROM 102. When the voltage of the power source 108 is insufficient, the data is not rewritten.
