PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To arbitrarily set a resolution and to record video with a desired resolution in an arbitrary scene desired by a user at the time of photographing. SOLUTION: Concerning the animation recording and reproducing device for recording and reproducing photographed moving images, this device is provided with a photographic mode storage means for storing plural photographic modes, which can be arbitrarily set, having different resolutions at least, an operating means 13 for enabling the selection of the photographic mode at the time of photographing and means 2 and 6 for performing recording and reproducing processing according to the selected photographic mode.
