PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image communication device which enables a receiver to notify a transmitter that an image signal of inch-based resolution is preferable when color information is received and an image signal of millimeter-based resolution is preferable when black-and-white binary information is received, can receive an image signal of proper resolution for color and black-and-white binary information, and can, therefore, receive and print images of high picture quality. SOLUTION: This image communication device capable of color facsimile communication has a 1st notification means which notifies the transmitter which of millimeter-based resolution and inch-based resolution is preferable when black-and-white binary information is received and a 2nd notification means which notifies the transmitter which of the millimeter-based resolution and inch-based resolution is preferable when color information is received.
