PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rapid and simple ascorbic acid analysis method, and a reagent for ascorbic acid analysis that can measure ascorbic acid rapidly and easily, is inexpensive, and has an improved storage property. SOLUTION: In the ascorbic acid analysis method, a sample to be examined that may contain ascorbic acid, free radical, and a diketo reaction agent are brought into contact one another to optically analyze the generation of a furfural condensation product from dehydroascorbic acid and the diketo reaction agent. The analysis reagent contains at least one type of free radical and the diketo reaction agent.
