PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller which can suppress a capacity deterioration rate of a battery assembly, which is composed of a plurality of secondary batteries connected in series to each other, to a low value. SOLUTION: This controller has a discharge depth adjustment circuit 2 which adjusts discharge depths of a plurality of secondary batteries 11 and a control circuit 3 which controls the operation of the discharge depth adjustment circuit 2. The discharge depth adjustment circuit 2 has voltage detectors 5 which detect the output voltages of the respective secondary batteries 11 and bypass circuits which consist of resistors 7 connected to the respective secondary batteries 11 via switches 6. The resistors R of the resistors 7 are optimized by using a capacity deterioration rate as an objective function. In a process of the repetition of a cycle composed of a charging period, a charging rest period, a discharging period and a discharging rest period of a battery assembly 1, the controller 3 controls the operations of the switches 6 in accordance with detection signals from the respective voltage detectors 5 in the discharging rest period to adjust the discharge depths of the respective secondary batteries 11. |
