PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor which can be produced by a method with no problem on safety and sanitation and has a surface photosensitive layer excellent in wear and scuffing resistances and capable of retaining its electrophotographic characteristics over a long period of time. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor is obtained by disposing a photosensitive layer containing a polycarbonate resin having a constituent unit comprising residues of 1,1-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propanes or 2,2-bis(4- hydroxyphenyl)butanes on an electrically conductive substrate.
