PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray generator having a focus spot size greatly smaller than that of a conventional X-ray generator, eliminating change of the focus spot size even if a tube current is increased, and facilitating a long service. SOLUTION: The X-ray generator uses a target 1 which has a plurality of particulates 12 consisting of target materials fixed to a film substrate 11 one by one at preset interval. The film substrate 11 is wound up so that the particulates 12 consisting of the target material are located in sequence one by one in a focus spot of an electron beam B radiated to the target 1. The size of the particulates 12 consisting of the target material is made smaller than the size of the focus spot of the electron beam B for permitting generation of an X-ray from a region smaller than the focus spot of the electron beam B and the long service of the X-ray generator in proportion to the number of the particulates 12.
