PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a regression reflection object detector provided with a plurality of light projecting elements and light receiving elements, wherein error reporting can be avoided without making the device larger. SOLUTION: Two light projecting elements 51, 52 and two light receiving elements 61, 62 are housed in each device body 3 of the regression reflection object detector. The projecting elements 51, 52 are mutually arranged in a position not adjacent horizontally nor vertically on a projecting/receiving surface 32. The light receiving elements 61, 62 are mutually arranged also in a position not adjacent horizontally nor vertically on the projecting/receiving surface 32. If a fallen object A or a passing object without requiring detecting is present and a pair of projecting/receiving elements 51, 61 are covered with the object A, a projecting and a receiving states are maintained between the other pair of the projecting/receiving elements 52, 62.
