PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for automatically holding a mouth part only in a water intake pipe in the intake water depth in a specific range by float equipment actuated by following this even if a water level of a water reservoir such as a holding pond changes. SOLUTION: In this automatic water intake device, plural water intake pipes 4 to 6 for successively reducing a pipe diameter are constituted by being combined in an attachment shape with a lower water intake pipe 3 fixedly arranged in the vertical direction by being connected to a water intake water introducing pipe 2 arranged by penetrating through a dam bank 1, connecting mechanisms 13 and 14 are arranged in respective stages so that the water intake pipes 5 and 4 having a small diameter in the next place are continuously pulled out when pulling out the water intake pipe 6 having the smallest diameter by the specific length, floats 9 are arranged for lifting in parallel to towers 7 as an extension-contraction guide of the telescopic water intake pipes, and wire ropes 12 for suspending and extending-contracting the water intake pipes 4 to 6 are connected to the floats 9 via deflecting pulleys 10 arranged on the towers and deflecting pulleys 11 arranged in a tower lower part.
