PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque sensor capable of realizing the reduction of size and the enhancement of detection accuracy and detection sensitivity. SOLUTION: A set of electrodes 33a, 34a on one side and a set of electrodes 33b, 34b on the other side stand opposite to conductive charge storage parts 3a, 3b on the periphery of a first shaft 3. At least one side of them stands opposite, in the radial direction of the shaft, to openings 43, 44 formed in a capacitance adjustment member 12 made of a dielectric substance rotating together with a second shaft 4 and to removal parts 41, 42 formed by partly removing the storage parts 3a, 3b. Dielectric substances different in permittivity from the adjustment member 12 are interposed between the storage parts 3a, 3b and the opposite electrodes 33a, 34a, 33b, 34b to form capacitors 51a, 51b, 52a, 52b. Elastic relative rotation of the two shafts 3, 4 changes the areas of the openings 43, 44 radially overlapping with the removal parts 41, 42, and accordingly changes the capacitance of the capacitors 51a, 51b, 52a, 52b. Torque transmitted between the two shafts 3, 4 is detected based on the capacitance change. |
