PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device which can prevent electrolytic corrosion of an electrode provided in the overhang part of a substrate, and to provide electronic equipment provided with such a liquid crystal device. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a pair of substrates 11a and 11b, which oppose each other with the liquid crystal interposed between them and is formed with an aluminum electrode 15a at the facing surface and the overhang part 30 provided in one substrate 11a among a pair of substrates 11a and 11b and overhung to the outer side of the other substrate 11b. The aluminum electrode 15a is pulled out to the overhang part 30, and an overcoat layer 16a is provided on the aluminum electrode 15a pulled out to the overhang part 30.
