PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic emulsion having high sensitivity and less liable to pressure fog and a silver halide photographic sensitive material containing the emulsion. SOLUTION: In the silver halide photographic emulsion, flat plate-like grains which satisfy the following items (i)-(iv) occupy >=50% by number of all silver halide grains. (i) The flat plate-like grains are silver iodobromide or silver chloroiodobromide grains having (111) planes as principal surfaces; (ii) the grains have >=1.0μm equivalent circular diameter and <= 0.1μm thickness; (iii) the grains have >=10 dislocation lines per one grain in the fringe parts; and (iv) the grains comprise a core part containing substantially no dislocation lines and a shell part containing dislocation lines and the thickness of the shell part in the direction perpendicular to the principal surfaces is >=0.01μm.
