PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photoelectronic distance measuring method and a more precise result by a measuring apparatus based on the method. SOLUTION: A part of modulating waves from a main emitter 1 reaches an object 60 to be measured. Reflected light waves reach a main light receiver 5, and other parts reach a reference light receiver 4 directly. A part of modulating waves from a reference emitter 2 is guided to the main light receiver 5 directly, and other parts are guided to the reference light receiver 4 directly. The light intensity of the main emitter 1 and that of the reference emitter 2 are modulated simultaneously at different modulation frequencies f1, f2, and the light intensities contain a signal at the intensity modulation frequency f1 from the main emitter 1 and a signal at the intensity modulation frequency f2 from the reference emitter 2. Phases of the signals of a signal mixture are measured simultaneously. The two signals are separated by different frequencies within a converted intermediate frequency region or by different intensity modulation frequencies. A phase error which is related to a temperature, a change with the passage of time and a received output is removed.
