PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize a display by realizing addressing less influenced by variation in operational environment without increasing a withstand voltage of circuit parts. SOLUTION: An address period TA for performing addressing is divided into plural sub-periods TA1 TA2, and a different row is to be selected in each sub-period, and in each sub-period, concerning a 2nd electrode of the row selected during the period, the bias is changed over to the selected potential Vya1 or the first non-selected Vya2 according to selection or non-selection, and also a 2nd electrode selected during the following sub-period of the sub- period is maintained at a 2nd non-selection potential Vya3 closer to an address potential Vaa than to the 1st non-selection potential Vya2.
