PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect an optical axis tilt without making a laser diode emit light. SOLUTION: An image of a laser diode 1 is enlarged with an infrared microscope 11 and picked up. According to the image data obtained by picking up the image, a 1st waveguide tilt detecting means 15 detects the tiltαof a waveguide 4 of the laser diode 1 as the optical axis tilt of the laser light Q emitted by the laser diode 1.
